FSD Academy Men's football team

The FSD Academy men’s football team play in the Leicestershire county football league, and provides a pathway for former FSD students to continue their football development.

Our players benefit from first-class training programmes delivered by elite-level coaches boasting decades of experience between them. Our founders, Matt Piper and Owen Johnson, came through the ranks at Leicester City, with Matt going on to represent the Foxes in the Premier League, so they know a thing or two about making it at the highest level.

As a part of the FSD Academy men’s team you’ll enjoy non-league football progression with a fully funded games programme. What’s more, our adult men’s team regularly play in showcase games against semi-professional and fully professional clubs.

Promoting wellbeing for young adults

The work FSD Academy does with children and young people is centered around developing life skills as well as sporting ability, and this remains a big focus for the FSD men’s team.

We’re passionate about promoting wellbeing in young adults, and providing a support mechanism to help them deal better with life’s challenges.

Beyond the pitch, we’ve also developed a work placement programme with local businesses that offer opportunities for current and former players, helping them to develop passions away from football and sport, with a view to developing their future careers.

Community engagement

A lot of the young people that come through at FSD Academy are from minority or economically deprived backgrounds, and we take our responsibility to our local community seriously.

We have strong links with local primary schools, and we encourage our students to pass on to these children what they’ve learned at FSD Academy. You’ll have the chance to plan and deliver football, fitness and multisport sessions in schools, building valuable interactive social skills and important relationships
